Anthropic sells no plan called Business. The Claude business plans it does sell are Claude Team and Claude Enterprise, and "Claude for Work was the earlier name for our business plans", according to claude.com/enterprise. Claude Team is for 2 to 150 people. A Standard seat costs $20 per month billed annually or $25 billed monthly; a Premium seat costs $100 or $125 and gives five times the usage of a Standard seat. Enterprise costs $20 per seat per month, billed annually, from 20 seats, plus all usage at API rates. All prices exclude tax, from claude.com/pricing on 26 October 2026.
Below: what one Team seat contains, how much usage it gets, what an admin controls, what 2, 5 and 10 seats cost, and how you move over.
AI Board, my company, runs on Claude, so I am not neutral. That is why every statement below links to a page of Anthropic's own.
Is there a Claude Business plan?
No. On 26 October 2026, claude.com/pricing lists these plans: Free, Pro, Max (5x and 20x), Team (with a Standard seat and a Premium seat), Enterprise (self-serve and sales-assisted) and the Education plan. The tab for companies is called "Team & Enterprise".
So if you are looking for the Claude business plan, you are looking for Team. Enterprise is the plan above it, for larger organisations.
You will still meet the name Claude for Work in Anthropic's help and privacy pages. It is the retired umbrella name for the same two plans: "a Claude for Work account (Team or Enterprise plan)", in the words of Anthropic's help centre.
Claude for Small Business is not a plan either. It is a plugin with ready-to-run workflows for Claude, and the pricing page lists no separate price for it. Anthropic's own advice on claude.com/solutions/small-business is short: "Pro for one person, Team for a business with more than one".

What does a Claude Team seat include?
Every seat on the Claude Team plan is one of two types, and you can combine them on one plan. The pricing page calls it "Mix and match seat types".
| Standard seat | Premium seat | |
|---|---|---|
| Billed annually | $20 | $100 |
| Billed monthly | $25 | $125 |
| Usage per session | 1.25x Pro | 6.25x Pro (5x Standard) |
| Weekly limit | yes, across all models | yes, across all models |
| Fable models | only through usage credits | included up to 50% of your weekly limits |
| Pooled API credits it adds | $20 a month | $100 a month |
Per seat per month, in USD, excluding tax. Sources: claude.com/pricing, What is the Team plan?, Claude Fable models on your plan and Monthly API credits for Max and Team plans, checked 26 October 2026.
Both seat types get the same features. According to the Team card and the comparison table on claude.com/pricing, every seat includes:
- Claude Code and Claude Cowork
- Claude Design, Slides and Docs
- Microsoft 365, @Claude and more
- Enterprise search across your organisation
- Project sharing and collaboration
- Central billing and administration
- Single sign-on (SSO) and admin controls for remote and local connectors
- Enterprise deployment for the Claude desktop app
- "No model training on your content by default"
Claude Code is not a Premium extra. Anthropic's help centre says it "is included with every Team plan seat" (source). The difference between the two seats is usage, plus how you reach the Fable models.
A seat belongs to one person. "Each seat on a Team plan is assigned to one named individual, and only that person may use it", says Purchase and manage seats on Team plans. Shared logins are not allowed.
What are the usage limits on a Claude Team seat?
Anthropic gives no number of messages. Its pricing page says "there's no fixed message count", because usage depends on the length of your conversations, the model you choose and the features you use.
What Anthropic does give are ratios. Per session, a Standard seat gets 1.25x the usage of Pro and a Premium seat 6.25x, according to What is the Team plan? (checked 26 October 2026). Limits reset on a "rolling five-hour session window", and paid plans add weekly limits on top (claude.com/pricing, FAQ). Chats, the desktop app and Claude Code all count towards the same limits.
Limits are per person, not per team. "Each team member has their own set of usage limits", says the help centre. A colleague who uses a lot does not eat into your share, and an allowance you leave unused cannot be passed on.
At the limit, you wait for the reset, or an Owner turns on usage credits. Those let members keep working, billed at standard API rates, with a monthly spend limit for the organisation and per user (Manage usage credits).
The pooled API credits are a separate pot. Team adds $20 a month per Standard seat and $100 per Premium seat, "capped at $500" a month for the whole organisation (Monthly API credits). They pay for building on the Claude Platform: the API, the Console Playground, Managed Agents and the Agent SDK.
They do not pay for interactive Claude Code, or for extra usage in Claude, Claude Code or Cowork after you hit your limit. They do not roll over, and you can claim them once you have been on the plan for seven days.
Standard or Premium? Premium suits the person who works with Claude all day; Standard suits everyone else. An Admin can switch a seat later, so you do not have to get it right on day one.
What is the minimum number of seats on Claude Team?
At least two, at most 150. The pricing page says "For teams of 2 to 150", and the help centre says "Team plans require a minimum of two members". Above 150 seats, you move to Enterprise (What is the Team plan?, checked 26 October 2026).
Older guides still say five seats; Anthropic's help centre says two.
The person who creates the plan needs a work email address: "@gmail.com, @yahoo.com, and @hotmail.com aren't allowed". Members need an address on an allowed domain, and Team is "not intended for individual use" (Get started with the Team plan).
Working alone? Then Team is not your plan. For one person, Anthropic points to Pro.
What does Claude Team cost for 2, 5 and 10 seats?
| Team | Billed annually, per month | Per year, billed annually | Billed monthly, per month | Per year, billed monthly | Pooled API credits per month |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2 Standard seats | $40 | $480 | $50 | $600 | $40 |
| 5 Standard seats | $100 | $1,200 | $125 | $1,500 | $100 |
| 10 Standard seats | $200 | $2,400 | $250 | $3,000 | $200 |
| 5 seats, of which 1 Premium | $180 | $2,160 | $225 | $2,700 | $180 |
In USD, excluding tax, calculated from claude.com/pricing on 26 October 2026.
Anthropic's billing page uses the same sums. Ten Standard seats billed annually come to "$2,400" a year, or "$250" a month billed monthly (How is my Team plan bill calculated?).
Monthly billing costs 25 percent more than annual: $25 against $20 per Standard seat. The last row is a common set-up: four colleagues on Standard and one Premium seat for the person who works with Claude all day, for example the managing director.
For comparison, one person on Pro pays $17 a month billed annually ("$200 billed up front") or $20 billed monthly (claude.com/pricing).
Enterprise is not an option at this size. It starts at 20 seats, so at least $400 a month in seats ($4,800 a year), before any usage at API rates.
Outside the US, the amount on your invoice can differ. "Prices shown are for US customers and exclude applicable taxes. Pricing, currency, and tax handling vary by region," says the help centre; your local price is shown at claude.ai/upgrade. If your billing address qualifies, sign-up shows an optional field for a "Tax or VAT ID" (Add or update your Team plan's tax or VAT ID).
All Claude plans side by side, Pro and Max included, are in Claude for business pricing. What AI costs a business in total, subscriptions and time, is in what does AI cost your business.
What can a Team admin control?
Only Owners and Primary Owners buy seats and see Organization settings > Billing. Admins can move members between seat types (Purchase and manage seats on Team plans, checked 26 October 2026).
You can add seats mid-term; they are billed pro rata, right away. Removing a member gives no immediate refund or credit. Fewer seats take effect at the next renewal, which on an annual plan is the anniversary date. Moving someone from Standard to Premium is a reassignment, and the price difference is billed pro rata (How is my Team plan bill calculated?).
Single sign-on is set up by an Owner or Primary Owner. You need DNS access to verify your domain, and your own identity provider, such as Okta or Google Workspace (Set up single sign-on).
The comparison table on claude.com/pricing also lists these for Team: usage analytics, organisation-wide skills deployment, org instructions, and spend controls at user and organisation level.
Can the admin see your chats? The Primary Owner manages the accounts and can request your data through an export, which "may contain your conversations with Claude, uploaded files, and usage patterns" (Who owns and manages the data of my team?).
What Team does not have, according to the same pricing table: domain capture, role-based access, SCIM, audit logs, the Compliance API and custom data retention controls. Those are Enterprise features.
What does Anthropic do with your company's data on Team?
Team falls under Anthropic's Commercial Terms, not the Consumer Terms that apply to Free, Pro and Max. Your organisation is the controller and Anthropic the processor (source). The data processing addendum with Standard Contractual Clauses is part of the Commercial Terms (source).
On training, Anthropic's privacy centre is direct: "By default, we will not use your inputs or outputs from our commercial products (e.g. Claude for Work, Anthropic API, Claude Gov, etc.) to train our models" (source, checked 26 October 2026).
The exception is feedback. A thumbs up or down sends the whole conversation, which Anthropic keeps for up to 5 years. An Owner can turn off "Rate chats" under Organization settings > Data and Privacy (source).
A deleted chat leaves your history at once and Anthropic's back-end storage within 30 days (How long do you store my organization's data?). Setting your own retention period is an Enterprise feature. On location, Anthropic writes that by default it may route traffic to the US, Europe, Asia and Australia, and adds: "Note that data is stored in the US." (source).
A table of what Anthropic does with your data on each plan is in the overview post. How AI Board itself handles data is on our security page.
Claude Team vs Enterprise: what is the difference?
| Team | Enterprise, self-serve | Enterprise, sales-assisted | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Seat price | $20 or $100 billed annually, $25 or $125 monthly | $20 per seat per month, billed annually | the same seat price as self-serve |
| Usage | within each seat's limits, usage credits on top | all usage at API rates, credits bought upfront | all usage at API rates, billed monthly in arrears |
| Seats | 2 to 150 | 20 minimum | 50 minimum |
| Billing cycle | monthly or annual | annual | annual |
| Payment | credit card only | card or ACH, USD only | card, ACH or invoicing, other currencies, AWS Marketplace |
| Trials | no | no | yes |
| Identity | SSO, domain verification | adds domain capture, role-based access, SCIM | same as self-serve |
| Governance | spend controls, usage analytics | adds audit logs, Compliance API, custom data retention | same as self-serve |
| Monthly API credits | up to $500, pooled | none | none |
Sources: claude.com/pricing, What is the Enterprise plan? and Monthly API credits for Max and Team plans, checked 26 October 2026.
Choose Team, unless one of three things applies: you will grow past 150 people, you want to pay by invoice, or your IT or compliance team requires SCIM, audit logs or your own retention periods.
Enterprise is not a bigger Team. Claude Enterprise pricing works differently: a low seat price for access, with every chat, Claude Code session and Cowork task billed separately at API rates. Its help page says so: "All usage across Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork is billed separately at standard API rates". There is no usage limit per seat, but everything your people use shows up on the bill.
And Pro or Max? Both are personal plans under the Consumer Terms. The pricing table lists model training as "Opt-out" there, against "None by default" on Team and Enterprise. Max costs $100 for 5x or $200 for 20x the usage of Pro, billed monthly only (What is the Max plan?). That works for one person; for a team it lacks central admin and SSO.
How do you move to Claude Team?
- Go to claude.ai/upgrade with your work email. By default the move happens "in place": your organisation ID stays and part of your content comes along. Tick "Keep your personal account separate" if you want a separate Team organisation instead (Get started with the Team plan).
- Your Pro or Max ends by itself. It is cancelled with a pro rata refund, paid out "about 24 hours after your Team payment goes through" (Team plan billing FAQs).
- Check what moves. Chats, artifacts within chats, projects with their instructions and files, uploads, and Claude's memory (unless your organisation turned memory off) all move. Custom skills do not: "There's no migration path for skills", so export them first. Sign-ins to connected apps are revoked, custom connectors you added yourself must be added again, published artifacts are not carried over and public share links to chats stop working (Move your personal Claude account).
- Subscribed through the App Store? Then you get a new, separate Team organisation by default. Content that sits in an organisation cannot go back to a personal account.
- Switch to annual billing when you are sure. An Owner clicks "Switch to Annual" under Organization settings > Billing, and unused time is credited (Change your Team plan from monthly to annual billing). Upgrades take effect right away; downgrades at the end of the period (claude.com/pricing, FAQ).
- Later to Enterprise, in the same organisation. That keeps chats, projects and roles. Self-serve starts at 20 seats, the move is "not reversible", and the monthly API credits stop (Migrate your organization from Team to Enterprise).
Who is the plan for? A Team plan gives your colleagues Claude. The person who makes the decisions usually needs more than a seat: a Claude that knows the company. That is what I build with AI Board. On a setup day I set up Claude on site as an executive AI assistant for the decision-maker, on their own laptop and their own Claude plan. You pay for the Claude subscription yourself, directly to Anthropic. What that adds is in what AI Board adds to a Claude plan. Based in the Netherlands or Belgium? Book a demo below.
Frequently asked questions
Does Claude Team include Claude Code?
Yes, in every seat, Standard and Premium. Anthropic's help centre says Claude Code "is included with every Team plan seat", and it shares the seat's usage limits with your chats.
Can you mix Standard and Premium seats?
Yes. The pricing page lists "Mix and match seat types". An Admin can move a member to the other seat type, and the price difference is billed pro rata.
Can you pay for Claude Team by invoice?
No. Team is paid with "credit, debit, or prepaid cards"; ACH is not available, and receipts come by email (Team plan billing FAQs). Paying by invoice is only possible on Enterprise through Anthropic's sales team.
Is there a free trial of Claude Team?
The pricing page lists trials only for sales-assisted Enterprise. To try Claude itself first, one person can use Claude Free.
Can I keep my personal Claude account?
Yes. Tick "Keep your personal account separate" when you move to Team. Without that tick, your account moves into the organisation, and content in an organisation cannot go back.
What was Claude for Work?
The earlier name for Team and Enterprise together. Anthropic retired the name, but its help and privacy pages still use it.
Is Claude for Small Business a separate plan?
No. It is a plugin with ready-to-run workflows for Claude. The pricing page lists no separate price for it, and Anthropic advises Pro for one person and Team for more.
Can Claude write a business plan?
Yes, as a draft you write together. Give it your own figures and check every number it writes.
