You never have to take the AI's word for it. Every answer points back to the document or number it came from, so you can verify before you act, and catch it when it's wrong.

The questions to ask any AI vendor
Before you connect a single file, put these five questions to every provider, us included. A vague answer is itself an answer.

Does my underlying data leave my environment, and if so, exactly where does it go?
If they can't draw you the path your data takes, they don't control it either.

Is my data used to train your models?
The right answer is a plain no. Anything hedged means maybe.

Can I see the source behind every answer?
Answers you can't trace are answers you can't trust with a real decision.

Can I revoke access and delete my data, and does that actually remove it?
Control you can't exercise on demand isn't control.

Is privacy enforced by the design, or a setting someone can switch off?
A promise can be broken or misconfigured. A structural property can't be toggled by accident.
We publish these questions because honesty is the differentiator here. The serious vendors answer plainly; the rest talk around it. Ask us the same five. That's the point.
Being straight with you
What AI Board does not claim
“Private by design” is an engineering principle we build to, not a compliance badge we're renting. So we won't claim certifications we don't hold, and we won't promise a specific server architecture before the product guarantees it. Where we're still building, we'll tell you that plainly rather than dress a roadmap up as a feature. The point of the design is that keeping your data private doesn't depend on us remembering to be careful.

GDPR
Privacy law isn't the obstacle. Sloppy AI is
GDPR doesn't forbid running AI on your company data. It forbids running it carelessly.
The moment you paste a customer list, a payroll file, or contract terms into a public model, you're processing personal data outside your control, often outside the EU, without a clear basis. That's the real exposure, and it's avoidable.
AI that keeps your underlying data inside your environment, doesn't train on it, and leaves access in your hands turns the privacy requirement from a brake into a selection criterion: it filters the serious vendors from the rest. Data protection stops being the reason not to start.
